At the car show in Los Angeles, held in December 2009, the public premiere was celebrated by the third generation Toyota Sienna minivan, serial production of which started next month at the brand's plant in the United States. After the next reincarnation, the car became much more solid in appearance, improved in functional terms and for the first time in its history acquired a four-cylinder engine, but remained without any major design changes.

In the summer of 2014, the monocab went through a small "rejuvenation procedure", thanks to which it received a modified exterior and interior, as well as an expanded list of equipment. In 2016, the Japanese again modernized their "brainchild", but this time they improved the six-cylinder engine and separated it in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission instead of a 6-range one.

The Toyota Sienna of the third generation looks thoroughly: it is an impressive and very heavy car on the outside, which is not handsome, but does not cause rejection, and even more, it has a peculiar elegance. The exterior of the minivan has something to catch the eye - stylish lighting equipment, "chubby" bumpers, a large glass area and appropriate stamping on the body.

The Sienna is a very large car: 5085 mm long, 1750 mm high and 1986 mm wide. The wheelbase of the monocab has 3030 mm, and its ground clearance is from 165 to 170 mm, depending on the modification. The "travel" weight of the vehicle varies from 1939 to 2082 kg.

The interior of the third generation Toyota Sienna looks fresh and attractive - a massive multi-steering wheel, a clear "toolkit" and a monumental center console with an infotainment complex and an originally arranged climatic "control". The interior of the minivan is dominated by decent quality materials, and the build is at a decent level.

Seven or eight seats can be arranged in the cabin of a single-volume cabin - it all depends on the layout of the middle row: two "captain's" chairs are installed here, or a solid sofa. In the front part there are comfortable seats, and in the back there is a three-seater "gallery", which is more suitable for short riders.

Even with a full load of passengers, the trunk of the "Sienna" is huge - 1105 liters. When the third row seats are folded down, the compartment expands to 2,465 liters, and if the middle row is removed from the passenger compartment, the loading space expands to an incredible 4,250 liters.

Specifications. For the "third" Toyota Sienna XL30, two gasoline engines are provided, which are mated with 6- or 8-band automatic transmissions and standard front axle wheel drive (for the "older" modification, an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that automatically activates the rear wheels is optionally available) ...

  • In the "base" the minivan is equipped with an inline four-cylinder "aspirated" 1AR-FE with a volume of 2.7 liters with a 16-valve timing and distributed fuel supply, which generates 187 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 252 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm.
  • An alternative to it is a 24-valve "six" 2GR-FE with a volume of 3.5 liters, which has a V-shaped configuration, VVT-I phase shifters at the outlet and inlet and direct power supply and produces 296 "stallions" at 6200 rpm and 357 Nm of torque at 4700 rpm.

Depending on the modification, the "Sienna" of the third generation spends in the combined cycle from 11.2 to 13.1 liters of fuel per "hundred" kilometers, but how fast the car is - the Japanese company does not give official data.

Basically, the third "release" Toyota Sienna has a front-wheel drive platform "Toyota K" with extensive use of high-strength steels in the structure and located longitudinally in the front of the engine.
The minivan's suspension is represented by independent MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent scheme on the mating trailing arms at the rear.
The rack and pinion steering mechanism on the car works in conjunction with an electric power steering. On each of the wheels of the single-volume wheel, disc devices of the brake center are installed: ventilated on the front axle with a diameter of 328 mm, and on the rear axle - 310 mm. The "state" has ABS, EBD, BAS and VSC (dynamic stabilization system).

Options and prices. The Sienna of the third incarnation is not officially supplied to the Russian market, but in the USA it is sold in L, LE, SE, XLE and Limited trim levels at a price of $ 29,750 (as of the summer of 2016).
As standard, the car "flaunts" eight airbags, a three-zone climate control system, an audio system with four speakers, ABS, EBD, ESP, VSC, keyless entry to the salon, a multimedia complex, power steering, "cruise" and many other equipment.
But the "full stuffing" is distinguished by 19-inch wheel disks, a more advanced infotainment system, leather interior trim, premium "music" and other modern "chips".
