At the Moscow Off-road Show, held in August 2015, the unexpected premiere of the four-door Tunland pickup truck from the Chinese brand Foton took place. At home, the "truck" made its debut back in 2011, and in 2012 it already made an attempt to conquer Russia, but not very successful - in total, sixty cars were delivered to us. Now the car will again try to conquer the Russian market - its sales started again in 2016.
Outwardly, Foton Tunland looks interesting, but nothing special stands out, as a result of which it makes a pleasant impression, especially against the background of most Chinese counterparts, and in its appearance the features of the Japanese Toyota Hilux are clearly traced.
The pickup from China belongs to the class of mid-size models with the corresponding body dimensions: length - 5310 mm, width - 1880 mm, height - 1870 mm.
There is a gap of 3105 mm between the axles of the car, and the bottom is separated from the roadway by 210 mm clearance (at full load). In the "combat" state, Photon Tunland weighs at least 1950 kg, and its total weight is a little less than 3 tons.
The interior of the "truck" has a simple and laconic design and high-quality assembly, although it is trimmed for the most part with "plastic wood".
The Foton Tunland salon is designed for five people, and there is enough space for both front and rear riders. If necessary, the sofa folds against the back wall, freeing up space for luggage.
The car is well adapted to its direct responsibilities for the carriage of goods: the length of the cargo area is 1520 mm, the width is 1580 mm, and the height of the sides is 440 mm. The maximum indicator of the transported luggage is 550 kg, and for the transportation of long items, the tailgate is folded into a horizontal position.
Specifications. Under the hood of "Tunland" is a 2.8-liter Cummins diesel unit with turbocharging, common rail injection and exhaust gas recirculation technology, producing 163 horsepower at 3600 rpm and 360 Nm of peak thrust in the range from 2500 to 3000 rpm.
The engine works in partnership with a five-speed manual transmission and rigid all-wheel drive.
Structurally, the Chinese pickup is typical for its class: a powerful ladder frame, an independent front "double-lever", a continuous axle on leaf springs at the rear and hydraulic power steering. The car is equipped with ventilated disc front and drum rear brakes, which in the "top" versions are complemented by ABS and EBD systems.
Options and prices. For the Chinese "truck" Foton Tunland on the Russian market in 2016 there are two fixed configurations - Base and Comfort.
For the initial version, you will have to pay 1,219,900 rubles, and its functionality is formed: two front airbags, air conditioning, ABS, power steering, rear parking sensors, fog lights, four power windows, an audio system with two speakers, alloy wheels with a diameter of 16 inches, heating and power mirrors, as well as fabric seat upholstery.
The car in the "comfortable" version is offered for 1,349,900 rubles, and its distinctive features are: interior trim with "artificial" leather, automatic mode of the driver's door window lifter and an additional speaker of the standard "music".
