Ford Bronco Sport is a four-wheel drive five-door SUV of the compact segment, in which brutal design, practical “apartments”, modern technical “filling” and good off-road potential “coexist”. This car is aimed at a diverse target audience, which is united by a common point - a craving for adventure ...

For the first time before the general public, the Ford Bronco Sport, which with the "older" Bronco of the sixth generation, is united only by the name-sub-brand and style (since it is based on a platform with a monocoque body, not a frame), appeared on July 14, 2020 during an online presentation.

The exterior of the Ford Bronco Sport is decorated in a retro style with a reference to the first generation SUV, and it looks attractive, balanced, catchy and quite brutal.

A pompous front end with sophisticated optics, a large Bronco lettering on the radiator grille and an unpretentious bumper, a masculine silhouette with expressive sidewalls and impressive wheel arch cutouts, frying sterns with stylish lanterns, a large fifth door and a compact bumper.

This is a compact segment crossover with corresponding dimensions: it is 4387 mm long, 1783 mm high, and 2088 mm wide. The wheelbase of the five-door is 2670 mm, and its ground clearance varies from 198 to 224 mm, depending on the modification (and the dimension of the wheels).

Interior

Inside, Ford Bronco Sport meets its inhabitants with a beautiful design that fully meets modern fashion trends, well-thought-out ergonomics and high-quality finishing materials. A three-spoke multi-steering wheel with embossed outlines, an "elegant" instrument cluster with a pair of analogue dials and a color display between them, an attractive center console with a protruding 8-inch touchscreen of the media center and a laconic "microclimate" block - a purely visual interior of the car evokes extremely positive emotions.

The interior of the crossover is five-seater, and a normal supply of free space is promised here in both rows. In the front, there are chairs with an unobtrusive side profile, wide adjustment intervals and heating, and in the back there is a full-fledged three-seater sofa with a folding armrest in the center, as well as its own ventilation deflectors.

In the arsenal of Ford Bronco Sport there is a trunk with a practical rubber coating, and an impressive volume: in its normal state, it is able to "absorb" 833 liters of luggage. The second row of seats folds down in two parts into an almost level rookery, as a result of which the capacity of the cargo compartment is increased to 1702 liters.

Specifications

For the Ford Bronco Sport, there are two gasoline engines of the EcoBoost family with a turbocharging, a direct injection system and variable valve timing:

  • In the "base" the car is equipped with a three-cylinder unit with a working volume of 1.5 liters, which generates 183 horsepower and 259 Nm of torque.
  • More powerful versions "sport" a 2.0-liter "four", producing 248 hp. and 373 Nm of ultimate thrust.

Both engines are combined exclusively with an 8-band hydromechanical "automatic" and an advanced all-wheel drive transmission, which has a multi-plate rear axle clutch and a pair of clutches in the rear differential, which allow you to transfer all traction available to the rear wheels either to the right or to the left side.

Off-road

Despite the "crossover essence", Bronco Sport can boast of good off-road potential: for example, an SUV is able to overcome fords with a depth of 450-600 mm. The car has a complete order with geometric cross-country ability: the angle of entry is 21.7-30.4 degrees, the angle of departure is 30.4-33.1 degrees, the angle of the ramp is 18.2-20.4 degrees.

Design features

The "sporty" Ford Bronco relies on the C2 modular platform familiar from the Focus and Kuga models, with a load-bearing body structure made with extensive use of high-strength steel grades. On both axles of the crossover, independent suspensions with passive shock absorbers and anti-roll bars are installed: in the front there are classic McPherson struts, in the back there is a multi-link architecture.

The car has a rack-and-pinion steering with an active electric amplifier. All five-door wheels are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), complemented by various electronic systems.

Options and prices

Most likely, Ford Bronco Sport will not reach the Russian market, at least in the foreseeable future, but in the USA it can be purchased at a price of $ 26,660 to $ 38,500 (≈1.9-2.8 million rubles), but these figures can be even more due to the wide range of personalization options.

Already in the "base" the car has: front and side airbags, ABS, ESP, single-zone climate control, electric drive and heated exterior mirrors, a media center with an 8-inch screen, an audio system with six columns, power windows for all doors, 17-inch alloy wheels , rear view camera and much more.
