The Ferrari Roma is a premium front-engined rear-wheel drive coupe and also the most affordable sports car from Maranello, named after the capital of Italy and embodying the modern vision of a carefree lifestyle in Rome in the 1950s and 1960s ... elegant design, high-performance technical component and excellent "driving" potential ...

The official premiere of Ferrari Roma, which begs to compete with such "stallions" as the Aston Martin Vantage and Mercedes-AMG GT in the "top" modifications, took place on November 13, 2019 as part of a special event for clients held in the Italian capital, Rome.

The car, built on the basis of the Ferrari Portofino convertible, by its appearance actually opened a new segment for the Italian automaker - relatively affordable (of course, by the standards of supercars) coupes with a V8 engine located in the front.

Externally, Ferrari Roma is distinguished by simple, but at the same time really graceful forms, "drawn" in the style of the classic models of the brand. The stylish "physiognomy" of the two-door flaunts the piercing gaze of the head optics with "soaring" running lights and a raised bumper with a huge air intake and a developed splitter, while its refined stern is decorated with spectacular lights, a "chubby" bumper and a pair of "large-caliber double-barreled" exhaust system.

In profile, the supercar literally mesmerizes with its elegant, balanced and fast-paced, but at the same time minimalist appearance - a dashingly tilted bonnet, a dynamic roofline that cascades down to the lanterns, expressive sidewalls with flush-mounted door handles and muscular hips.

Dimensions and weight

The length of the Ferrari Roma is 4656 mm, the width reaches 1974 mm, and the height does not exceed 1301 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2670 mm, and the size of the front and rear track is 1562 mm and 1679 mm, respectively.

The dry weight of the two-door is 1472 kg, but in the equipped form it already weighs at least 1664 kg.

Salon interior

The interior of the premium coupe is made in a fundamentally new style for Ferrari and is capable of boasting a beautiful and modern design, in which a "sporty atmosphere" reigns.

In the driver's seat, there is a three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a developed relief and a rim cut in the lower part and a virtual instrument cluster, and a massive center console with smoothly falling outlines, separating the driver and passenger, carries a large vertical tablet of the multimedia system and air conditioning system. It is also worth noting that one more informational touchscreen is located right in front of the "navigator".

The Ferrari Roma interior has a seating formula of "2+", that is, the rear row here can hardly be called even nominal - it is, rather, space for small bags. Front riders rely on bucket seats with a pronounced side profile, integrated headrests, a wide range of electrical adjustments and other "benefits of civilization."

Specifications

Under the hood of the Ferrari Roma is a 3.9-liter F154 V-8 petrol engine with twin turbochargers, flat crankshaft, direct injection, intake and exhaust phase shifters and 32-valve timing, producing 620 horsepower at 5750-7500 rpm minute and 760 Nm of torque at 3000-5250 rpm.

By default, the supercar is equipped with an 8-band DCT robotic gearbox with two clutches and paddle shifters and a rear-wheel drive transmission with an electronically controlled differential.

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the two-door from Maranello “fires” in just 3.4 seconds, and after 9.3 seconds it leaves behind the second “hundred”, after which it does not stop accelerating until it reaches 320 km / h.

Design features

The base for Ferrari Roma is a space frame made of aluminum, which implies a longitudinal position (within the base) of the power unit in the front end. On both axles of the car, independent suspensions with adaptive electronically controlled shock absorbers filled with magnetorheological fluid are used: in the front there is a double lever, in the rear there is a multi-link.

Regularly, the supercar is assigned a rack-and-pinion steering with an active electric amplifier and a variable gear ratio. All two-door wheels are equipped with ventilated carbon-ceramic disc brakes, supplemented by ABS, EBD and other electronic gadgets.

Complete set and price

It is expected that sales of Ferrari Roma will start in the spring of 2020 at a price of ~ 190 thousand euros (~ 13.4 million rubles), that is, the coupe will cost about the same money as the convertible Portofino hardtop.

The standard equipment of the supercar includes: front and side airbags, full LED optics, 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, ABS, EBS, ESP, virtual instrument cluster, media center with a large screen and much more.
