On October 13, 2016, the German company BMW officially presented the seventh “chapter” of its most popular sedan - the “5-Series” model with the in-plant designation “G30”, “to the judgment of the world community”.

If in terms of design the car “only” evolved - becoming similar to the flagship “seven”, then in terms of technology it made a real revolution - a three-volume slightly distributed in dimensions, received “stuffing” from the same “older sister”, and also borrowed it has a range of state-of-the-art electronic systems.

Outside, the "seventh" BMW 5-Series is a real athlete in an expensive suit, demonstrating a strict, powerful, sporty-style knocked down appearance and harmonious proportions. The exterior of the four-door successfully combines elegance, solidity and healthy aggression, from whatever angle you look. Large "nostrils" of the radiator grille, fused with frowned headlights, slanting blocks of stylish lamps, developed plastic bumpers, a dynamic and solid silhouette with perfectly folded sidewalls - the car looks exactly as it should be for a premium sedan.

"Five" of the seventh generation fits into the E-community standards for European requirements: its length is 4936 mm, width is 1868 mm, and height does not exceed 1466 mm. The wheelbase of the "Bavarian" fits into 2975 mm of the overall length.

Inside, the BMW 5-Series is a typical modern Bavarian brand with an instantly recognizable front fascia architecture. The interior of the three-volume “strikes on the spot” with its graceful, sophisticated and luxurious design, impeccable level of workmanship and “thoroughbred” finishing materials, including natural wood, magnificent leather and aluminum.

A three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a developed relief, a laconic and extremely informative instrument panel, a noble center console with a 10.25-inch iDrive screen and perfectly arranged audio and climate units - the car's decoration is excellent in all respects.

The front seats of the "five" of the 7th generation and there is nothing to blame - a good profile with ideally developed sidewalls, optimal padding rigidity and wide intervals of numerous electrical adjustments. Three adults will be able to sit on the rear sofa of a verified shape, but the protruding floor tunnel will cause inconvenience to the passenger in the middle.

The trunk of the BMW 5 Series, as standard, holds 530 liters of luggage, but its configuration is far from perfect. The back of the "gallery" is divided into three parts (in a ratio of 40:20:40) and folds to increase the volume (but does not form a completely flat rookery), and under the floor there are a repair kit and the necessary tools.

Specifications. At first, this sedan will be offered with a pair of gasoline and a pair of diesel engines, each of which is combined with an 8-band "automatic" (although the base diesel is normally equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics") and rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive technology xDrive with a multi-plate clutch, which meets for supplying traction to the front wheels.

  • Petrol versions 530i and 530i xDrive equipped with a 2.0-liter inline "turbo four" with double supercharging, direct "feed" and variable valve timing Valvetronic, the potential of which has 252 "stallions" at 5200-6500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1450-4800 rpm. The “maximum speed” of a four-door vehicle does not exceed 250 km / h, the “jerk” up to 100 km / h is within 6-6.2 seconds, and the “appetite” in mixed mode amounts to 5.5 to 6.4 liters per “hundred”.
  • Modifications next in the hierarchy 540i and 540i xDrive equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line engine, turbocharger, Valvetronic system and direct fuel injection, generating 340 horsepower at 5500-6500 rpm and 450 Nm of maximum output at 1380-5200 rpm. Such a car copes with the first "hundred" in 4.8-5.1 seconds, reaches 250 km / h at acceleration and "digests" 6.5-7.4 liters of gasoline in combined conditions.
  • Under the hood of solutions 520d and 520d xDrive based on a four-cylinder 2.0-liter unit with a Common Rail system, combined with direct injection, turbocharging with variable geometry and 16-valve timing, producing 190 "mares" at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm. From a standstill to 100 km / h, the sedan "rushes" in 7.5-7.7 seconds, during acceleration it is limited to 232-238 km / h, and consumes no more than 4.1-4.9 liters in the "highway / city" cycle.
  • Diesel variants 530d and 530d xDrive laid in-line "six" with a volume of 3.0 liters, equipped with a two-flow turbocharger, 24 valves and Common Rail in combination with direct "power supply", which releases 265 "horses" at 4000 rpm and 620 Nm of torque at 2000-2500 rpm. The characteristics of such a "Bavarian" are impressive: 5.4-5.7 seconds per "shot" up to 100 km / h, the peak of capabilities at the level of 250 km / h and the "digestion" of fuel within 4.5-5.4 liters.

In the future, the range of modifications of the car will be expanded due to the BMW model M550i with a 4.4-liter 462-horsepower V8 engine and standard all-wheel drive, as well as a hybrid version 530e with a turbocharged "four" and an electric motor, which jointly give out 252 "horses".

"Five" of the seventh generation is based on a modular CLAR "bogie" with an independent double-lever in front and an original five-link architecture at the rear, which has two separate rods instead of a large lower lever. Optionally, the vehicle can be equipped with electronically controlled adaptive dampers, Dynamic Drive active anti-roll bars and Integral Active Steering with rear-wheel steering. In the "skeleton" of the sedan's body, high-strength grades of steel and aluminum are adjacent (the hood, trunk lid, roof and rear sides of the side members are made from it), and the front panel bracket is made of magnesium alloy.
On the four-door, a steering mechanism with a variable pitch of teeth on a rack and an electromechanical control amplifier is used. On all wheels of the "Bavarian" ventilated disc brake center devices with ABS, BA, EBD and a bunch of other relevant electronics are involved.

Options and prices. In the Russian market, the BMW 5-Series with the G30 index at the beginning of 2017 is offered in a wide number of modifications at a price of 2,760,000 rubles - this is how much dealers ask for a rear-wheel drive version of the 520d.
In the "base" the car has a scattering of front and side airbags, a dual-zone "climate", a multimedia complex with an 8.8-inch screen, full-time navigation, heated steering wheel and front seats, leather interior trim, ABS, ESP, fully LED optics, premium "music ", Front and rear parking sensors, as well as a bunch of other relevant" gadgets ".
The simplest petrol version of the 530i is priced at 2,990,000 rubles, the all-wheel drive version can be purchased for 2,900,000 rubles (the price of 520d xDrive starts at this mark), and the "top modification" of the M550i xDrive will cost buyers at least 5,100,000 rubles.
