In April 2015, the Japanese automaker Subaru officially unveiled the new seven-seater Exiga Crossover 7 SUV, which was presented to the public in the form of a concept model at the Tokyo Motor Show in late 2013. In the home market, a car based on the Exiga station wagon will go on sale in May 2015, and in the future, it promises to become global.

The official name of the model is "Subaru Crossover 7", but the full essence of the novelty is revealed by its formal name "Exiga Crossover 7" - i.e. it's just a station wagon disguised as a crossover.

The car differs from its "cargo-passenger brother" only in a few touches: an oversized radiator grille, an unpainted plastic edging along the perimeter of the body and "off-road" bumpers.

The length of the Japanese crossover is 4780 mm, height - 1670 mm, width - 1800 mm. The total length of the wheelbase is 2,750 mm, and the ground clearance reaches 170 mm, which is 20 mm more than the "standard version".
This car weighs 1620 kg in curb condition.

The salon of the "Japanese" looks somewhat outdated - this style began to be applied on Subaru cars 5 years ago. The interior is somewhat refined by the color monitor of the multimedia center, which has climbed to the top of the center console, below which the "climate" control unit has settled. The three-spoke multi-steering wheel hides a contrasting "shield" with different-sized instruments.

The key advantage of the "Crossover 7" model is the seven-seat layout of the interior, where three rows of seats are set up like an amphitheater, one above the other. The high roof provides the required amount of space overhead, and a decent wheelbase in the legs (only the passengers of the gallery can feel discomfort).

About the technical characteristics. Under the hood of the crossover there is a four-cylinder "aspirated" with horizontally opposed basing "pots", equipped with a 16-valve timing belt of the DOHC type and a distributed supply of gasoline. With a volume of 2.5 liters (2498 cubic centimeters), the engine produces 173 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 235 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm.
As partners for the unit, a Lineartronic wedge-chain variator and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch in the drive of the rear axle wheels are assigned.

In mixed driving mode, the crossover is able to manage 7.6 liters of fuel for every 100 km, but its dynamic parameters have not yet been disclosed.

Structurally, the Subaru Crossover 7 repeats the standard Exiga station wagon. In his arsenal - a fully independent suspension (MacPherson strut in front and paired trailing arms at the rear), electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (on the front axle with ventilation).

Prices and equipment. In the Japanese market, Exiga Crossover 7 will be available to consumers in late spring 2015 at an initial cost of ~ 21,500 US dollars.
Already in the standard version, the car is equipped with front xenon headlights, leather seats, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, a multimedia center, climate control and a set of security systems.
