The firstborn of General Motors' premium brand in the compact crossover class celebrated its official debut at the end of March 2018 at the stands of the New York International Auto Show. The smallest Cadillac in history "put on" the design in the spirit of "older brothers", tried on several options for the exterior, "armed" with powerful engines and received a rich list of standard and optional equipment.

Outside, the Cadillac XT4 can boast of a beautiful, stylish, distinctive and rather brutal look - at least in the city traffic it definitely cannot be confused with analogues of other brands.

At the same time, the car looks great from all angles, without exception - a monumental front end with spectacular LED optics, a powerful "shield" of the radiator grille and a raised bumper, a decisive silhouette with a dropping roof, expressive sides and huge wheel arches, lean rear with graceful boomerang lamps and two trapezoidal pipes in the "chubby" bumper.

It is worth noting that the "Sport" version is offered for the five-door, which is distinguished by the almost complete absence of chrome elements in the exterior, a black radiator grille in the spirit of "Cadillac" V-series, edging of the side windows of the same color and unique 18-inch wheel disks.

Size and weight

In terms of dimensions, the Cadillac XT4 can be attributed to the overgrown compact class: its length is stretched by 4599 mm, the width is 1881 mm, and the height does not exceed 1627 mm. The center distance of the SUV is 2779 mm, and its ground clearance is modest 171 mm.

In the "stowed" state, the mass of the car varies from 1587 to 1660 kg, depending on the modification (at the same time, it is capable of taking trailers weighing up to 1587 kg in tow).

Interior

Against the background of many modern competitors, the inside of the Cadillac XT4 looks somewhat old-fashioned, but immediately captivates with healthy conservatism - a stylish multifunctional steering wheel, an uncomplicated instrument cluster with two analog dials with arrows looking straight down at rest, and an on-board computer display, and a distinctive center console with 8-inch screen of the media system and the "battery" of the push buttons of the air conditioner.

The decoration of the crossover is tailored exclusively from decent materials - soft plastics, high-quality leather, natural wood, carbon fiber, aluminum, etc.

Front riders in the Cadillac XT4 are allocated ergonomically profiled seats with optimally expressed lateral support, a large number of adjustments and heating, and as an option - and other "benefits of civilization." Even three passengers will be able to accommodate in the second row of seats, but only two will be most comfortable here - the reasons for this are the high floor tunnel and the shape of the sofa cushion in the central part.

The SUV arsenal includes a roomy trunk with smooth walls and LED lighting. In its normal state, it is capable of "absorbing" 637 liters of luggage, and with the "gallery" folded in two unequal sections - 1358 liters (in this case, a completely flat rookery is obtained).

Specifications

In the Russian market, the Cadillac XT4 is offered with two in-line four-cylinder engines to choose from:

  • By default, the crossover is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline unit with a two-flow turbocharger, direct fuel injection, variable valve lift, 16-valve DOHC timing belt, variable valve timing and a function of partial cylinder deactivation, generating 200 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 3000-4500 rpm.
  • The alternative is a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with common rail injection and 16-valve timing, the potential of which is 174 hp. at 3500 rpm and 381 Nm of peak thrust at 2750 rpm.

The standard off-road vehicle is equipped with a 9-speed hydromechanical "automatic" Hydra-Matic 9T50 and a front-wheel drive transmission. For a surcharge (but for Russia - in the "base") for the five-door, an all-wheel drive system is offered, in which the rear wheels are connected as needed by means of two electronically controlled clutches.

Speed, dynamics and consumption

To the first "hundred" the car accelerates after 8.6-10.6 seconds, and its maximum speed does not exceed 223 km / h.

Gasoline cars, on average, have 8.7 liters of fuel for every 100 km of run in mixed mode, and diesel cars - 6.7 liters.

Design features

At the heart of the Cadillac XT4 is the modular E2 platform (first used on American models), and the power structure of its body implies a wide availability of high-strength steel grades.

Both axles of the car are equipped with independent suspensions with passive shock absorbers and transverse stabilizers: in the front - like McPherson, in the back - a multi-link system. And the Sport modification is capable of boasting an adaptive chassis that varies calibrations in real time every two milliseconds. The off-road vehicle uses rack and pinion steering and active electric power steering.

As usual, the "American" is equipped with an electro-hydraulic brake system, disc devices "in a circle" (ventilated in the front) and a bunch of electronic assistants.

Options and prices

In Russia, the Cadillac XT4 comes in three trim levels to choose from - Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport (and both engines are available for each of them).

The most affordable crossover with a gasoline unit will cost from 3,250,000 rubles, while another 80,000 rubles will have to be charged for a turbodiesel.

The car is equipped with: eight airbags, dual-zone "climate", rear parking sensors, keyless entry, full LED optics, 18-inch wheels, a media center with an 8-inch screen, heated front seats and a steering wheel, a rear-view camera, an electric fifth door, an audio system with seven speakers and other equipment.

The remaining two configurations will cost the same money: petrol versions cost at least 3 390 000 rubles, and diesel ones cannot be bought cheaper than 3 470 000 rubles.

At the same time, the Premium Luxury version can boast of leather trim, boot opening under the bumper, active safety complex and some other little things, and Sport "flaunts" the appropriate decor in the design, seats with a more pronounced side profile and transparent rear light diffusers.
