The Hyundai i30 N is a front-wheel drive five-door hot hatch of the compact segment and, in combination, the first car of its kind in the history of a South Korean mechanical engineer, which combines practicality in everyday use with a truly driving character ... Its main target audience is people with an active lifestyle who love to "ride with the breeze" ...

The official premiere of the "charged" car, developed by the efforts of the sports N-division of Hyundai, took place on July 13, 2017 - as part of a special event in Germany, and its sales in the countries of the Old World were launched at the beginning of 2018.

The five-door, designed to compete with the Volkswagen Golf GTi and Ford Focus ST, has received sporty touches in the exterior and interior, high-performance technical "stuffing" and two versions (differing from each other in power).

Outside, the Hyundai i30 N has a beautiful, balanced and truly combative look.

Confusing it with a "civilian" hatchback does not allow aggressive bumpers with large air intakes in the front and rear diffuser, two "trunks" of the exhaust system, a wing on the fifth door, decorative red stripes, nameplates with the version designation and original rims of 18 or 19 inches.

The South Korean "lighter" is 4335 mm long, 1451 mm high, and 1795 mm wide. A 2650 mm base fits between the pairs of wheels at the five-door, and under the bottom there is 136 mm ground clearance (with the Performance package - 132 mm).

When equipped, the hot hatch weighs from 1400 to 1429 kg (depending on the version).

Inside, the Hyundai i30 N can be identified thanks to the sports front seats with developed sidewalls, a relief steering wheel with mode change buttons, a special "toolbox" with a gear change indicator and aluminum pedals.

Otherwise, it copies the usual "brother" - a modern and laconic design, high-quality performance, a five-seater layout and a trunk with a volume of 395 to 1301 liters.

The Hyundai i30 N is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder T-GDI petrol engine with a vertical architecture, a turbocharger, direct fuel injection, 16-valve timing and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, which is available in two power options:

  • by default it produces 250 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 353 Nm of torque at 1450-4000 rpm;
  • and with the package Performance - 275 hp at 6000 rpm and 353 Nm of torque at 1450-4700 rpm.

In conjunction with the engine, a 6-speed "mechanics" with the function of matching the revolutions when shifting to a lower gear and a front-wheel drive transmission (optionally with an electronically locked differential) work.

From a standstill to 100 km / h Hyundai i30 N "shoots" after 6.4 seconds (with the Performance package - 0.3 seconds faster), and accelerates to a maximum of 250 km / h (speed is electronically limited).

In the combined travel mode, the "charged" hatchback "drinks" 7-7.1 liters of fuel for every "hundred" of run, depending on the version.

Structurally, the Hyundai i30 N repeats the "civilian" model - a front-wheel drive platform based on independent suspensions "in a circle" (MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link in the rear) and a body structure with a wide use of high-strength steel.

But he also lacks the differences - as standard, the hot hatch is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers with electronic adjustment, "sharp" steering with electric power steering mounted on a rail, and five "driving" modes (Normal; Eco; Sport; N; N Custom).

All wheels of the car are equipped with ventilated disc brakes (standard diameter 330 mm on the front axle, and with the Performance package - 345 mm), complemented by the "darkness" of electronic assistants.

In the Russian market, the "charged" N-modification of the third generation Hyundai i30 in 2019 is offered in two equipment options - "Sport" and "Ultimate".

  • A car in basic configuration with a 249-horsepower engine will cost from 2,200,000 rubles. The list of its equipment includes: seven airbags, dual-zone climate control, a media center with an 8-inch screen, ABS, ESP, wireless charging for smartphones, light and rain sensors, all-LED optics, heated front seats, steering wheel and washer nozzles, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, 18-inch alloy wheels, a six-speaker audio system, adaptive dampers and more.
  • For the performance of "Ultimate" you will have to pay at least 2,350,000 rubles, and its features (in addition to a more powerful engine) include: electronically controlled differential lock, an exhaust system with an openable damper, more efficient brakes and 19-inch wheels.
