Borgward BX6 is an all-wheel-drive compact SUV of the "premium segment" with a coupe-like body type, which is positioned in the company itself as a "car of the GT class" ... It is primarily aimed at a young target audience, professing an active lifestyle and wanting to use the "iron horse" »Show others your individuality ...

The official demonstration of the serial crossover took place on May 10, 2018 - at a special event in Beijing, but its conceptual prototype was presented back in March 2016 - at the stands of the International Geneva Motor Show.

The car, which is a "coupe-like version" of the junior SUV BX5, has received a peculiar appearance, a European-style solid interior, productive "stuffing" and a good level of equipment.

In general, Borgward BX6 has an attractive, modern and rather peculiar look, but still from some angles it looks not quite proportional.

At the front, the off-road vehicle "flaunts" a formidable gaze of lighting technology, a monumental chrome "shield" of the radiator grille and a raised bumper with vertical blades of running lights, and at the back it demonstrates powerful outlines with pretty lanterns and a huge bumper, into which two trapezoidal exhaust pipes are "implanted".

In profile, the crossover body shape evokes associations with three-volume sedans, but in reality it is a liftback with a humped roof, a flying sill line, "muscular" sidewalls, a separate "tail" of the trunk and impressive arches that can accommodate wheels measuring from 17 to 19 inches.

In terms of its dimensions, the Borgward BX6 belongs to the class of compact models: it reaches 4601 mm in length, does not exceed 1877 mm in width, and 1675 mm in height. The center-to-center distance at the five-door is 2685 mm, and its ground clearance is 184 mm.

The interior of the crossover looks beautiful, balanced, soundly European and quite noble to itself, emphasizing its "premium positioning".

The driver's workplace flaunts a relief multifunctional steering wheel with a three-spoke rim and a laconic "toolbox" with four analog instruments and a color display of the onboard computer. In accordance with modern trends, an 8-inch screen of the media center protrudes from the front panel, under which there are ventilation deflectors and a well-arranged climate system unit.

In addition to this, the inside of the car can boast of good quality materials - pleasant plastics, genuine leather, interspersed "wood-like", aluminum, etc.

The Borgward BX6 salon is able to accommodate five people, and a sufficient supply of free space is provided in both rows (although the central rear passenger will not be very comfortable because of the protruding tunnel). At the front, the car is equipped with ergonomic seats with well-developed side bolsters and a full set of electrical adjustments, and at the back there is a three-seater sofa with comfortable outlines.

In the "arsenal" of the coupe-like crossover there is a spacious luggage compartment of the correct shape (but its exact volume is not disclosed). The second row of seats folds in two sections, significantly increasing the cargo capacity of the car, but does not form a completely even "rookery". The underfloor niche at the five-door is occupied by a small spare wheel and tools.

A single unit is installed on the Borgward BX6 - this is an aluminum gasoline "four" T-GDI with a working volume of 2.0 liters with a turbocharger, direct fuel injection, an exhaust gas recuperation system, an intercooler, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable gas distribution phases, giving out 224 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1500-4500 rpm.

By default, the SUV is equipped with a BorgWarner 6-band preselective "robot" with two clutches and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that activates the rear axle wheels (up to 50% of thrust can be redirected there, if necessary).

The crossover has good "driving" characteristics: acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes about 9 seconds, the top speed exceeds 200 km / h, and the fuel consumption is 7.1 liters per 100 km / h in combined mode.

Borgward BX6 is based on a front-wheel drive platform with a transversely oriented power unit, and in the power structure of its body there is a wide use of high-strength steel grades.

On both axles of the car, independent suspensions with transverse stabilizers, hydraulic shock absorbers and steel springs are mounted: in the front - a McPherson-type system, in the rear - a multi-link architecture.

The crossover has in its asset a rack and pinion steering complex, supplemented by an electromechanical control amplifier. All wheels of the five-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle), working with ABS, EBD and other electronics.

In the Chinese market, Borgward BX6 is offered at a price of 182,800 yuan (~ 1.8 million rubles). The starting configuration of the coupe SUV includes: front and side airbags, a media center with an 8-inch screen, leather interior trim, climate control, heated and electric front seats, ABS, ESC, 17-inch wheels, a rear-view camera, cruise control , rear parking sensors, fifth door servo, high quality audio system and much more.

The most expensive crossover will cost from 199,800 yuan (~ 1.95 million rubles), and its features are: all-round cameras, front parking sensors, 19-inch "rollers", heated second row of seats, tire pressure monitoring technology, monitoring of the blind zones, bi-xenon headlights and other "chips".
