The five-door hatchback Mazda 3 of the third incarnation celebrated its world premiere on June 26, 2013 simultaneously in five points of the planet - St. Petersburg, Melbourne, London, Istanbul and New York.

After another show of the car, dressed in the design of "Kodo" ("soul of motion") and absorbing the innovations of the Skyactiv platform, was held in September of the same year at the Frankfurt show, along with the sedan of the same name.

In the summer of 2016, the Japanese "troika" underwent an update, which mostly affected the functionality, but did not disregard the exterior and interior.

The exterior of the Mazda 3 in a five-door body is made in the same vein as the three-volume model, and the differences between the cars are reduced to the design of the rear. The predatory "look" of frontal optics, an elegant and sporty fit profile, athletic stern - this car is not like any of the "classmates" and is able to fall in love with many.

The hatchback has the following dimensions: 4465 mm in length, 1450 mm in height and 1795 mm in width. The wheelbase of the "Japanese" fits within 2700 mm of the outer length, and the clearance under the "belly" varies from 155 to 160 mm, depending on the version.

Inside, the five-door version of the Mazda 3 of the third incarnation completely repeats the sedan of the same name - the modern and most European design among the Asian models of the C-class, clearly grouped controls, high-quality finishing materials and a five-seat layout with comfortable seats on both rows.

The hatchback's trunk is scanty - only 308 liters in standard form.

Nevertheless, the compartment itself is well organized - the shape is correct, the opening is large, and there are niches along the edges. The back of the "gallery" fits in parts flush with the floor, and a dock with tools is placed under the raised floor.

Specifications. As in the case of the sedan, the five-door model is equipped with two atmospheric petrol "fours" with vertically placed cylinders and a 16-valve DOHC timing structure.

  • By default, the car is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with distributed injection, producing 104 "horses" at 6000 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
  • But the "top" versions put the "direct" unit Skyactiv-G with a volume of 1.5 liters, which has 120 forces and 150 Nm at the same speed in its arsenal.

Both engines are installed in conjunction with a front-wheel drive transmission and an automatic transmission ("junior" - with a 4-speed, and "senior" - with a 6-range).

The hatch copes with a start "jerk" to 100 km / h in 11.7-13.6 seconds, accelerates to 175-186 km / h and consumes no more than 5.8-6.5 liters of gasoline per mixed "hundred".

Structurally, the "third" Mazda 3 in a five-door body does not differ from the three-volume "brother": the car uses a front-wheel drive "bogie" built using Skyactiv technologies, with shock-absorbing struts in front and a "multi-link" at the rear, electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels, supplemented modern electronics.
Optionally, the "Japanese" relies on intelligent traction control G-Vectoring Control.

Options and prices. For the 2017 Mazda 3 hatchback model year, only one performance level has been prepared on the Russian market called Active +, for which buyers will have to pay from 1,259,000 rubles.
In terms of standard and optional equipment, the hatch repeats its four-door "brother".
