The subcompact sedan Renault Clio Symbol, intended exclusively for developing countries, entered mass production in 1999, and in different markets it was known under its own names (Symbol, Clio Sedan, Clio Classic and others). In 2002, the three-volume model underwent a planned restyling, which affected the exterior, interior decoration and technical part, after which it stood on the assembly line until 2008, giving way to the assignee.

"Clio Symbol" is a four-door sedan of the European class "B" with the following body dimensions: 4171 mm in length, of which 2473 mm fits the distance between the axles, 1639 mm in width and 1437 mm in height. Its ground clearance is 155 mm.

In running order, the car weighs from 910 to 1090 kg, depending on the modification.

Specifications. A wide range of power plants was installed on the Renault Clio Symbol.

  • The three-volume was equipped with gasoline atmospheric "fours" with in-line cylinders and a multipoint injection system with a volume of 1.4-1.6 liters, generating 75-107 horsepower and 114-148 Nm of torque.
  • The car was also equipped with atmospheric and turbocharged diesel engines of 1.5 liters with a recoil of 65-82 "mares" and 160 Nm of ultimate thrust.

The engines "connected" with a "mechanic" for five gears or "automatic" with four ranges, which delivered potential to the wheels of the front axle.

The French sedan is based on a front-wheel drive "bogie" called "B" with a transversely placed power unit. On the front axle, it uses an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, on the rear axle, a semi-independent design with trailing arms.
The Renault Clio Symbol features a hydraulic power steering rack and pinion, front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The advantages of the three-volume "Clio Symbol" are a reliable design, good handling, a fairly spacious interior, a large trunk, affordable service and high-torque and efficient engines.
The disadvantages of the car include poor light from the front optics, weak brakes, a controversial appearance, a low level of sound insulation and not the most comfortable seats.
